SSU detains traitor who was promised RUB 1 mln by FSB for coordinates of AFU combat positions near Pokrovsk
The SSU has apprehended another agent of russia’s federal security service in Donetsk region. He was preparing a series of enemy air strikes on Ukrainian troops in one of the hottest frontline areas – Pokrovsk sector.
The adversary was targeting the strongholds and command posts of one of the Ukrainian brigades holding defense near the frontline town.
To obtain the coordinates, the russians remotely recruited a Ukrainian serviceman serving in this brigade.
In exchange for cooperation, the FSB ‘guaranteed’ its asset RUB 1 million. However, he never received the money – the russian service used the ‘reward’ offer only for recruitment.
The SSU identified the traitor at an early stage and detained him when he was recording the geolocations of the AFU frontline positions for the aggressor.
During detention, the SSU seized from the suspect a mobile phone, which he used to communicate with his handler, an FSB operative. The latter has already been identified.
The investigation further established that the agent was to pass to the FSB the organizational and staff structure with the personnel of the AFU brigade where he served.
The russian service hoped to use this information for new recruitment and to obtain intelligence on Pokrovsk’s defense.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The investigation is ongoing. The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office in the Eastern Region.
