SSU detains traitor who helped enemy attack Mykolaiv region with ‘Shahed’ drones and phosphorus munitions
In Mykolaiv oblast, the SSU Counterintelligence detained another russian agent who was passing information on locations of the Defence Forces to the occupiers.
On the aggressor’s instructions, the enemy informant drove in the frontline areas of the region and covertly recorded locations of Ukrainian military personnel and equipment.
Among other things, he tried to identify depots with AFU’s weapons and ammunition, including foreign-made ones.
The traitor also ‘informed’ the occupiers on the consequences of their air attacks with phosphorus munitions, ‘Grad’ multiple rocket launchers and Iranian ‘Shahed’ drones.
The invaders used his intelligence to conduct new and repeated strikes on the oblast, primarily on the city of Ochakiv.
The SSU Counterintelligence detained the suspect when he was conducting reconnaissance.
According to the investigation, the enemy informant is local resident who was recruited remotely by the aggressor for gathering intelligence.
He transmitted the data to one of russian special services via a messenger app.
During the search, the SSU seized the mobile phone which the agent used to communicate with the aggressor.
The SSU served the detainee a notice of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).
The court is to decide of custody as a measure of restraint. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The suspect is facing life imprisonment.
The SSU Office in Mykolaiv region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of Mykolaiv Specialized Military and Defence Prosecutor’s Office.
