In Kharkiv region, the SSU Military Counterintelligence has detained another FSB agent. He was preparing a series of missile and bomb attacks on combat positions of the Defense Forces, which are protecting the oblast from a new russian offensive.

The enemy’s main targets were the locations of radar stations and air defence missile systems.

The agent was trying to identify their coordinates and provide them to the russian intelligence.

To do this, he drove around Kharkiv suburbs and covertly recorded possible sites where the AFU could be deployed.

However, the SSU thwarted the enemy’s plans and detained the traitor at his home.

Action was taken to protect the AFU positions.

The SSU seized the devices from the suspect that he used for reconnaissance.

According to the investigation, the aggressor’s accomplice is a 30-year-old resident of a village near Kharkiv.

In late 2023, he was recruited by the russian intelligence. The asset was instructed to enlist to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in addition to collecting information on air defence positions.

However, the SSU Military Counterintelligence prevented him from infiltrating a Ukrainian unit at the stage of registration.

Based on the evidence, the detainee was notified of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
