SSU detains traitor who informed enemy on AFU’s positions and planned to join occupiers (video)

As a result of a special operation in the frontline areas of Mykolaiv region, the SSU Counterintelligence exposed another russian agent.

The suspect is a contract serviceman of one of the military units based in the region.

In February 2023, on his own initiative, he contacted the russian special service to offer his assistance in the war against Ukraine and expressed a desire to join the occupiers’ forces.

To establish contact with the aggressor, he ‘turned’ to his sister, who lives in russia and is in a relationship with an official of the occupation groupings.

This official is the deputy commander for military and political work of the 83rd separate repair and restoration battalion of the russian armed forces, Vladimir Snegovsky.

The woman met the russian serviceman after the temporary occupation of a village in Kherson region, where she lived at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

During the liberation of the area, she decided to flee with the invaders and settled in russia, where continued her ‘communication’ with Snegovsky.

The latter passed information about her relative to a serving officer of the russian intelligence, who then got in direct contact with the man.

According to the investigation, the traitor followed his handler’s instructions to collect data on deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Mykolaiv and Vinnytsia oblasts.

The invaders needed the intelligence to prepare missile strikes on Ukrainian targets.

The agent also discussed with the officer of the russian special service conditions of crossing the front line and surrendering.

However, the SSU Counterintelligence timely identified the spy, documented his criminal actions and detained him in an administrative building when he was conducting reconnaissance.

During the search, the SSU found his mobile phone with an anonymous messenger app used for communication with russian intelligence.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators notified the enemy informant of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

The court chose custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Mykolaiv Office under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
