SSU derails FSB’s plans to stage ‘protest actions’ for Ukraine’s Independence Day (video)
The SSU has thwarted the FSB’s plans to use relatives of Ukrainian military servicemen to exacerbate the social and political situation in Kyiv, Zhytomyr and Poltava regions on the eve of the Independence Day.
According to the plot of enemy special services, the ‘protesters’ were to actively criticize and condemn Ukraine’s military command, while the organizers planned to film this.
In this way, they sought to create the ‘necessary content’ for russian propagandists, who would share and spread it as much as possible through the Internet and controlled mass media.
The SSU established that the organizers of the pseudo-actions were supposed to be former members of the Stremousov’s Journalists NGO. They have similar experience, as they held several staged rallies in Kyiv in early 2022.
Currently, their leader Kyrylo Stremousov is acting as ‘deputy head of the occupiers’ military and civilian administration’ in Kherson. Following the SSU’s investigation, in first weeks of russia’s full-scale invasion he was notified of suspicion of treason.
According to the investigation, the FSB was preparing ‘actions’ in advance. Russian special services contacted coordinators of Zhytomyr and Poltava branches of Stremousov’s movement back in May 2022.
Later, they were instructed to organize mass ‘protest’ rallies near regional military commissariats with the participation of mothers of Ukrainian soldiers.
However, due to the SSU’s intervention, Stremousov’s former accomplices refused to carry out the FSB’s assignments.
The SSU will continue to counter attempts of russian special services to influence social and political situation in Ukraine.
