The SBU Main Investigation Department has completed a pre-trial investigation in a criminal case against a National Guard officer suspected of treason.

The SBU investigators established that the Russian special services recruited the offender. The perpetrator provided information on the location of the National Guard unit and its personnel.

He also provided information on the participation of foreign instructors in the trainings where he served and their personal data. The offender received financial benefit for the tasks performed.

Such actions caused damage to the defense capabilities and information security of Ukraine.

The operation was conducted jointly with the SBU Department of Military CI under supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The indictment was sent to Boryspil City District Court of Kyiv Region.

A serviceman faces up to 12-15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
