SSU completes investigation into Semenchenko case

SSU investigators have completed a pre-trial investigation in the case against nine people, including former Ukrainian MP Semen Semenchenko.

The criminal charges include: creation of a paramilitary formation not provided by the laws of Ukraine, terrorist act, illegal handling of weapons, violation of the procedure for international transfers of goods subject to state export control.

The degrees of participation in offences are different. The offenders are currently studying case files.

To remind, early 2021, the SSU exposed and disrupted activity of an illegal private military company involved in preparing for the commission of serious crimes, in particular against national security.

According to the investigation, the company was organized by former People's Deputy of Ukraine Semen Semenchenko and Yevhen Shevchenko, known as a freelance agent of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.

The operation was carried out by investigators of the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
