SSU collects evidence on kadyrovite who tortured Ukrainian prisoners and extorted money from their families to stop abuse

The SSU has identified another russian occupier involved in mass torture of prisoners of war and civilians in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia oblast.

The perpetrator is colonel Zelimkhan Agmerzoyev, commander of the 3rd company of the police regiment of the federal department of non-departmental protection of russian guard troops in the chechen republic.

After russians captured Melitopol district, he formed and led punitive units carrying out repressions in the community.

On Agmerzoyev’s orders, his subordinates brutally tortured Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians in the occupied settlements.

During the torture, he personally called the victims’ close relatives and demanded money from them to stop physical abuse of the captives.

The investigation has documented that Agmerzoev had demanded UAH 500,000 from the wife of an AFU serviceman captured by ruscists during combat on the southern front.

If money wasn’t paid, the occupier threatened to injure and kill the Ukrainian prisoner.

In another episode, the criminal demanded USD 20,000 from relatives of two abducted locals. For this amount, he ‘guaranteed’ to stop the abuse and let the victims go.

Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified Agmerzoyev of suspicion under Articles 28.2 and 438.1 of the CCU (violation of laws and customs of war, committed by a group of persons upon prior conspiracy).

Efforts are ongoing to bring the war criminal to justice for crimes against Ukraine.

The investigation is carried out by the SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
