SSU detains FSB agents in Odesa: one of them used wigs for tradecraft
The SSU has dismantled an FSB agent group operating in Odesa. The enemy cell included two military servicemen and a woman, their accomplice.
On the orders of russian intelligence, the perpetrators were reconnoitering locations of air defence systems protecting Odesa.
To identify the coordinates, the agents regularly travelled around Odesa and its surrounding areas.
If they found targets, they covertly photographed them and marked geolocations on Google maps.
Another task of the assets was to covertly install wireless magnetic cameras in the Odesa Seaport.
For secrecy, the agents used taxi services, and their accomplice disguised her appearance by constantly changing wigs.
The SSU documented the reconnaissance and sabotage activities and detained the head of the group and his accomplice when they were taking pictures of a military facility.
Another member of the cell, a local resident, was detained in her home after she conducted reconnaissance near a potential target.
The SSU took action to protect the locations of Ukrainian troops.
During the searches, the SSU seized the mobile phones that the suspects had purchased and used exclusively for communication with the FSB.
SSU investigators served the detainees notices of suspicion under Articles 28.3, 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed by an organized group, under martial law).
The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Odesa region under the procedural supervision of the Specialized Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region.
