SSU dismantles FSB intelligence network including former and current officials of Ukraine's special services (video)
The SSU Counterintelligence has neutralized an extensive FSB military counterintelligence network that operated in Ukraine. As a result of a multi-stage special operation in different regions, SSU officers detained 5 members of the enemy group.
The agents include former officials of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, as well as an officer of the regional SSU Office.
The offenders were in contact with the same supervisor, an FSB officer who is currently in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
The task of the agent network was to collect intelligence about the Defense Forces and critical energy infrastructure.
According to the investigation, the former foreign intelligence officer was recruited by the FSB before the full-scale invasion.
Since then, the spy has been collecting information on the locations of the Ukrainian military, and after February 24, 2022, on the channels of foreign military supplies to Ukraine.
In addition, the russian agent passed classified information to the FSB on the operation and security systems of Rivne and Khmelnytskyi NPPs.
To ensure the confidentiality, the traitor did not send the intelligence by phone. He passed the data to the FSB via an accomplice who traveled abroad as a volunteer and personally informed a resident of the enemy's special service.
Moreover, the former intelligence officer passed sensitive information on a flash drive through smugglers from the border regions of Ukraine.
Another russian agent, who had previously served in the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, "leaked" personal data of Ukrainian defenders to the aggressor.
The other suspect, an SSU officer, was reconnoitering the geolocation of fortifications and engineering barriers near the coastline of Odesa region.
According to the investigation, the FSB recruited group members, in particular by threatening to kill their families. In addition, the offenders received funds from russia for each completed task.
SSU investigators have already served five members of the russian intelligence network suspicion notices under Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason). A custody has been chosen as a measure of restraint against them.
The investigation is ongoing to bring all the enemy accomplices to justice.
The operation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office.
