SSU dismantles FSB intelligence network that included defence plant engineer and city council official in Donetsk region
The SSU Counterintelligence has neutralized an extensive agent network of russia’s FSB. As a result of the operation, 5 russian agents operating in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions were detained simultaneously.
The perpetrators were collecting intelligence about sites with large concentrations of personnel and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The enemy agents were also trying to identify ammunition, fuel and lubricant depots of the Defence Forces.
They were interested in operation and geolocation data of industrial facilities where Ukrainian heavy weapons are repaired.
Apart from that, the members of the network were gathering information on the consequences of enemy strikes and ‘verified’ the coordinates for new russian missile attacks.
The agents acted separately from each other, but were reporting to the same handler - a serving FSB officer. The latter has been already identified by the SSU.
One of the apprehended enemy assets is an official of a city council in Donetsk region. In addition to her, there were two other agents in the region - a former head of a local utility company and a woman from Kramatorsk.
Another member of the cell was a process engineer at a defence enterprise in Zaporizhzhia. The woman provided the FSB with the data on the military equipment repaired at the plant’s facilities.
One more agent was an employee of a transport company in Odesa oblast. On the FSB’s instructions, he collected information on a possible transfer of off-road vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, prior to recruitment, each of the perpetrators was an active member of pro-kremlin groups in popular messenger apps.
This brought them to the FSB’s attention, which then recruited them remotely.
To communicate with the assets, their russian handler created an anonymous chat room for each of them and deleted the messages after they have been read.
During the searches, the SSU seized the mobile phones used by the suspects to communicate with the enemy service.
SSU investigators have now notified the detained individuals of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspects are in custody, facing life imprisonment.
The special operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
