SSU dismantles FSB agent network that guided russian missiles at high-rise building in Zaporizhzhia on October 18 (video)

The SSU has neutralized an intelligence network of russia’s FSB which adjusted the aggressor’s strikes on the military and civilian infrastructure of Zaporizhzhia.

As a result of a special operation, the SSU detained the resident (head) of the enemy group, who on 18 October 2023 ‘guided’ russian missiles at an apartment building in the city centre.

That night, 5 people were killed and another 5 were seriously injured as a result of the attack.

According to the investigation, the head of the agent group is a local resident, a representative of Zaporizhzhia military reenactment club, which brings together fans of reenacting historical events and military battles.

In mid-October 2023, he was recruited remotely by the FSB to conduct reconnaissance and sabotage in the frontline city.

For covert communication with the russian intelligence, their asset chose the code name ‘Palestinian’ and created an anonymous chat in a popular messenger app.

To carry out enemy assignments, he formed a group of informants, which included 4 locals, some of them – his relatives.

These agents reconnoitered locations of the Defence Forces in Zaporizhzhia and transmitted geolocations of residential infrastructure and industrial facilities to the network’s head.

To gather intelligence, the informants would walk around or drive to the target sites, take photos and videos of them using their phones.

They passed the data to 'Palestinian', who then sent it to the FSB through a ‘liaison’ in one of the temporarily occupied towns in Zaporizhzhia oblast.

During the searches in the suspects’ homes, the SSU found firearms, computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of the crime, as well as banned soviet and pro-kremlin symbols.

The SSU has served the resident agent a notice of suspicion under Articles 28.2, 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed upon prior conspiracy by a group of persons, under martial law).

The court has chosen custody as a measure of restraint. The suspect faces life imprisonment.

The investigation is ongoing to bring all members of the enemy network to justice.

The operation was conducted by the SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
