SBU neutralizes bot farm and Internet agitators attempting to destabilize the situation in Odesa city during May holidays

The SBU exposed and blocked the network of Internet agitprops and a bot farms in Odesa city. The attackers spread false information aimed at instigation of international hatred and supporting separatism.

According to intelligence, five residents of Odesa made videos, published and disseminated fakes about Ukraine by orders of Russian mentors. Moreover, the attackers planned to post the destructive content in the Russian media. Thus, they wanted to create necessary illusion on the eve and during the May holidays.

The attackers posted calls for violations of the territorial integrity and constitutional order of Ukraine, as well as incitement of international hostility via the Internet.

Therefore, the agitators intended to destabilize the socio-political situation in the region in early May.

During searches of the suspects' residences, SBU officers found print media, symbols calling for totalitarian regime, and other illegal goods prohibited by law.

Allegedly, the attackers were going to spread materials during the mass May events.

In addition, SBU operatives terminated activities of the bot farm in Odesa city. The agitprops used bot farms to spread anti-Ukrainian and other illegal appeals in the Internet.

During the search, law enforcement officers seized computers with installed specialized software and telecommunications equipment.

The criminal proceedings were initiated for encroachment on territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine. Investigative actions are underway. Appropriate procedural decisions will be made after results of the investigation.

Measures to expose and block illegal activities were carried out under the procedural supervision of the Odesa Region Prosecutor's Office.
