SBU prevents attempt of pseudo-elections in Dnipropetrovsk region

The SBU shut down an organized group that attempted to create fake “People's Councils” and “security agencies” in Dnipropetrovsk region. Being devoted to the idea of the Soviet Union revival, the offenders attempted to overthrow the constitutional order of Ukraine.

According to intelligence, a local resident, who had previous experience in establishing quasi-governmental entities, involved almost 100 individuals into the anti-government activities coordinated by the USSR Supreme Soviet NGO.

The so-called Chairman of the USSR Supreme Soviet distributed “Soviet citizenship certificates” to the members of the group. Moreover, she called on local citizens to take part in the pseudo-elections of the new government bodies.

The SBU established that members of an unregistered group called “Russian International Union of Soviet Officers” were involved in the formation of the fake “law enforcement authorities” in Dnipropetrovsk region.

During searches of the organizer’s and active group members’ residences, the law enforcement officers found:

  • documents of fake “People's Councils”;
  • computers used for manufacturing of so-called Soviet citizenship certificates;
  • lists of group members;
  • correspondence with Russian curators.

Within the criminal proceedings initiated upon production, distribution of communist, Nazi symbols and propaganda of communist and National Socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes, investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the case and prosecute all persons involved.

The operation was carried out by the SBU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region jointly with the Main Department of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk region under the supervision of the Dnipropetrovsk Region Prosecutor's Office.
