SSU detains fsb spy who tried to infiltrate SSU and become ‘double agent’ (video)

The SSU Counterintelligence has exposed a deep-cover fsb spy in Luhansk region.

The woman pretended to be a Ukrainian patriot and tried to gain trust of the SSU. In fact, she was performing a task of russian special services, which wanted to make her a ‘double agent’ for intelligence and sabotage activities against Ukrainian Defence Forces.

To fulfill the enemy assignment, the agent contacted an officer of one of the SSU units and offered her assistance in fighting against the aggressor.

Among other things, she ‘guaranteed’ to provide up-to-date information on the enemy’s activities in the temporarily occupied territory in the east of Ukraine.

However, the SSU established that in 2019 the woman had been recruited by the russian special service through the so-called ‘lnr ministry of state security’.

When the full-scale invasion began, the agent carried out her handler’s instructions to identify routes and locate military equipment of Ukrainian troops across Luhansk region.

The enemy accomplice also collected personal data and intelligence on location of members of resistance movement, in particular in the captured Markivka village.

She passed the obtained information to the occupation administration for further repressions against locals.

Subsequently, the russian agent was instructed to establish contact and develop ‘cooperation’ with the Ukrainian special service.

However, the SSU thwarted the enemy’s plans to infiltrate their ‘mole’ into the SSU’s intelligence network. As a result of a multi-staged counterintelligence operation, the perpetrator was timely exposed, her criminal activity was documented and her ‘handler’ - identified.

The SSU disinformed the enemy, lured the traitor out to the Ukraine-controlled territory and detained her.

The detainee has been notified of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU). Court chose custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect.

The crime is punishable by up to 15 years or life imprisonment.

The SSU Counterintelligence carried out the operation jointly with the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the SSU Main Investigation Directorate.
