SSU identifies russian servicemen who committed atrocities in Donetsk region: raped women and tortured prisoners (audio)
The SSU has identified another russian military unit and its servicemen involved in atrocities against prisoners of war and civilians.
New russian war crimes have been uncovered through intercepted conversations of the invaders in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk oblast.
The recording is a telephone interview given to a ‘military correspondent’ from Bashkortostan, russia. She talks to an invader with the call sign ‘Raphael’, serving in the 3rd Marat Safin battalion (7th company, 36th regiment of the 25th army of the russian armed forces, military unit 12274).
The propagandist is Guzel Kudasheva, who works for the newspaper 'Aurgazinsky Vestnik’. The ‘journalist’ regularly collects material for articles on her compatriots fighting in the war in Ukraine.
‘Our Bashkir guys got drunk, caught a woman in town, raped her, killed her and burned the body,’ the ruscist tells her, describing the activities of his battalion.
Asking for more details, she learns that there were four rapists and that the russian command turns a blind eye to such actions.
The ruscist continues to share ‘exploits’ of Bashkir fighters, including how they torture and rape prisoners of war. But the ‘war correspondent’ asks not to elaborate – the details are too gruesome.
She regularly publishes the ‘most interesting’ events from the unit’s life in the local newspaper and on her VKontakte page. But there is not a single word about the russian war crimes, only about their supposedly heroic ‘deeds’.
The SSU has opened a criminal investigation and is thoroughly documenting these crimes, identifying those involved and taking comprehensive efforts to bring perpetrators to justice.
