Ex-serviceman recruited by so-called DNR is jailed
Following SBU CI investigation, the court sentenced a former serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to 6 years in prison for assisting the aggressor country and DNR pseudo-republic.
The SBU found that in 2020, a Ukrainian serviceman was recruited by a representative of the DNR IAF to collect and provide intelligence on the deployment, armament and number of personnel of the Joint Forces Operation in the contact line.
In addition, the offender was willing to carry out subversive activity against the Ukrainian military.
During a search of his residence, an arsenal of weapons was seized.
The law enforcement officers detained the suspect in June 2021.
Early August 2021, the Artemivskyi City Court found him guilty of creation of a terrorist group and illegal handling of weapons.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Military and Defense Sphere of the Joint Forces.
