In 2021, courts sentence 80 organizers of 2014 fake referendum in Eastern Ukraine
The SSU is exposing and prosecuting individuals involved in crimes against state security in Eastern Ukraine. In 2021, over 100 organizers of the 2014 unconstitutional ‘referendum’ in Luhansk region were notified of suspicion.
The SSU investigations led to conviction of 80 individuals, including members of village councils, the so-called voting station heads and hostile instigators.
In addition, in early 2022 the SSU identified five more residents of the region who assisted in organizing and conducting the
pseudo-referendum.
According to the investigation, they were members of the so-called ‘voting stations’ and collected signatures for ‘legitimization’ of the IAFs of the temporarily occupied territories.
The court found the accused guilty of crime under Article 110.2 (trespass against territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) of the CCU.
The SSU Main Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the investigations under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
