Cherkasy: SBU detains National Guard serviceman for arms trafficking (video)

During a special operation in the city of Cherkasy, the SBU detained a serviceman of the National Guard. He attempted to sell starting pistols converted into traumatic guns.

According to the investigation, the workshop was organized by a senior officer of a military unit in his own residence. The offender searched for clients through personal contacts, including criminal ones.

The law enforcement detained a National Guard officer near a shopping mall in downtown Cherkasy while trying to sell three pistols and rounds.

During the searches of the suspect’ residence, workshops and car, the law enforcement seized:

four converted pistols with components;

almost 200 various caliber rounds;

special equipment for firearms conversion.

Within the criminal proceedings, the detainee was served a suspicion notice for unlawful handling of weapons. A type of detention is to be chosen.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

The operation was conducted jointly with investigators from the State Bureau of Investigations in Kyiv, under the supervision of the Cherkasy Military Specialized Prosecutor's Office of the Central Region.
