Chernihiv city: SBU prevents creation of radical cell propagandizing war of conquest

In city of Chernihiv, SBU exposed a foreign agitator attempting to create a local group propagandizing a war of aggression.

Allegedly, a citizen of a post-Soviet country, living in Ukraine, used the Internet to distribute spread calls for illegal actions. The attacker posted in his profile information about the possible domination of the so-called “Slavic state” over other ethnic groups. He also disseminated provocative articles affronting the honor and dignity of the national minorities.

Reportedly, the propagandist was involved in Russian radical group.

SBU operatives documented that he was actively searching for accomplices in Chernihiv region to engage them into the fraud.

During the searches at suspect’s residence and vehicle, law enforcement officers found computer equipment, firearms without license and documents proving illegal activities.

Currently, the issue of serving the agitator a suspicion notice and choosing a type of detention is being resolved.

Within the criminal proceedings initiated for propaganda of war, investigation is ongoing to identify and bring to justice other involved people.

The SBU is also checking ties of agitator with Russian special services.

The operation was carried out under the legal supervision of the Chernihiv Region Prosecutor's Office.
