SBU Counterintelligence found and detained a foreigner who is internationally wanted by Interpol.

The native from one of the Caucasian republics arrived in Ukraine aiming to avoid criminal responsibility for committing serious crimes, related to encroachment on the lives of people on the territory of CIS.

It is established, that the criminal is involved in kidnapping of citizens and extortion. Consequently, he is threatened to imprisonment up to 15 years.

The SBU operatives detained the criminal at the place of his temporary residence in Kharkiv.

The issue of applying to him an extradition arrest is being solved. Additionally, his possible involvement in similar crimes in Ukraine is being checked.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Department for Criminal Investigation of the Main Department of the National Police in Kharkiv region.
