In the city of Kharkiv, the SBU CI detained an asset of the Russian military intelligence. The offender performed the task of obtaining technical documents on the development and production of the Ukrainian tank T-84BM “OPLOT”.

It was established that the GRU representatives recruited the citizen of Ukraine during his trip to Russia.

Within the criminal proceedings, the SBU investigators and CI documented that the traitor tried to get sensitive information from an employee of Kharkiv Morozov Machine-Building Design Bureau (KMDB) SE, which developed the tank. Under the control of the SBU operatives, the enemy asset received samples of technical documents from the employee and passed the photocopies to a representative of the Russian special service via the secured channels.

The traitor was detained while receiving a “complete set of restricted technical documents”.

Currently, the offender has been served a notice of suspicion of treason. A type of detention is being chosen.

The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was conducted under supervision of Kharkiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
