Kharkiv city: SBU exposes municipal official and state registrar on multimillion misappropriations
The Security Service of Ukraine exposed an official of one of the Kharkiv City Council municipal enterprises and a state registrar on illegal real estate transactions. The illegal actions caused budget losses amounting to UAU 2 m. (USD 74,000).
The SBU found out that in 2019-2020 the official illegally privatized two non-residential premises with a total area of over 500 square meters. The buildings are the ownership of the state and the city council, located in the historic center of the city of Kharkiv.
Using forged documents, the suspects managed to enter false data into the state register of real estate rights: the owner of the above buildings appeared to be the municipal official.
Following the SBU investigation, the buildings were seized to begin the procedure of returning them to the state and the city council.
The suspects received notices of suspicion under various articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The operation was carried out together with the National Police investigators under the supervision of the Kyiv District Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv city.
