In Kyiv, the Security Service of Ukraine detained an organizer of a criminal group that smuggled and sold weapons in our country.

According to the pre-trial investigation, the offenders ordered firearms on specialized websites in one of North American countries.    They received weapons components via international services of express delivery under the guise of sports goods and equipment. Having special skills, the organizer collected and set up weapons on its own. They sold the “goods” via online auctions throughout the country.

According to intelligence, during this year group members received over 100 foreign parcels with illegal goods. They also imported Glock and Ruger pistols, Hatsan aimguard.

The organizer was detained on receiving another international parcel with components to the combat pistol.

Criminal proceeding was initiated for smuggling. The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the detainee is now being settled.

Investigative actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances and bring to justice other persons involved in the weapons smuggling.
