Kyiv: SBU prevents illegal sale of automatic weapons, grenades and ammunition to criminals

During a special operation in Kyiv, officers of the SBU Main Department of Internal Security detained an arms dealer attempting to illegally sell weapons.

The offender tried to sell to criminals:

  • A Kalashnikov assault rifle;
  • two Sa vz. 26 Vizor submachine guns;
  • ten RGD-5 and F-1 grenades;
  • nine UZRG fuses;
  • 2300 various caliber rounds.

Allegedly, the offender searched for clients through personal contacts, including criminals.

The detainee received a notice of suspicion for illegal handling of weapons, ammunition and explosives. Terms of detention are being considered.

Urgent investigation is ongoing to establish the sources of weapons and prosecute all involved individuals.

The operation was conducted jointly with investigators of the Dnipro Police Directorate of the Kyiv Main Department of the National Police under the supervision of the Kyiv Local Prosecutor's Office No. 4.
