Kyiv city: SBU exposes corrupt head of criminal police office

The SBU detained the head of the criminal police office of one of the Kyiv police departments for bribery.

According to intelligence, the offender demanded USD 2,000 from a Kyiv resident. For this amount he promised to change the procedural status and return the property seized as part of the criminal proceedings.

The law enforcement with the assistance of the SBU CSO “A” officers detained the suspect near his place of work on receiving a bribe.

The detainee was served suspicion notice of abuse of influence.

Within the initiated criminal proceedings, SBU operatives are checking the alleged facts of receiving bribes by the offender and involvement of other officers of the National Police Department in the corruption scheme.

The pre-trial investigation is underway.

The operation was conducted by the SBU Main Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime jointly with the DBR Territorial Department in Kyiv city under the supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
