The SBU exposed the deputy director of the Institute of the National Academy of Sciences on bribery.

During the pre-trial investigation it was established that the Doctor of Technical Sciences demanded money from an entrepreneur. For this, he promised to rent a non-residential premises of the Institute of Electrodynamics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in one of the central districts of the capital.

The law enforcement officers documented the receipt of the first part of the bribe and detained the offender in his office while receiving the second part of the illegal benefit. The businessman was supposed to pay UAH 50,000 (USD 1,800) quarterly during the long-term lease agreement, concluded in violation of the Ukrainian law.

Upon the fact of taking a bribe the law enforcement conducted searches of the offender’s office in Shevchenkivskyi district.

The issue of serving the offender a notice of suspicion is being decided. A type of detention is chosen.

The operation was conducted jointly with the investigators of the Solomyanskyi District Police Department under supervision of Kyiv Local Prosecutor’s Office No. 9.
