Kyiv City: SBU detains police officer on bribing
The SBU detained a police officer in city of Kyiv, who demanded USD 10,000 for closing of a criminal proceeding.
The senior operative of the National Police unit demanded money from a citizen, accused of willful moderate bodily harm. For USD 10,000, the offender guaranteed the man a closing of the criminal proceeding. The police officer also promised to return the car, which was allegedly seized.
The law enforcement detained the offender near his own car while receiving the full amount of the bribe.
The issue of serving the perpetrator a notice of suspicion upon the fact of taking a bribe is being resolved.
The operation was conducted by the SBU Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime jointly with the State Bureau of Investigation with the assistance of the Internal Security Department of the National Police under supervision of Kyiv Prosecutor's Office.
