Kyiv city: SBU detains offenders selling drugs and psychotropic substances

The SBU officers blocked activity of a criminal group that sold drugs and psychotropic substances in Kyiv.

Allegedly, the drug business was organized by a well-known local businessman. He involved three more city residents in it. The offenders sold banned substances for cash to standing customers during personal meetings in nightclubs and private parties.

Every month, the mastermind received over USD 50,000 due to drug trafficking. The exact amount of  the “profits” is currently being established.

The operatives documented several sales of illicit substances.

The members of the group were detained at residences in Obolonsky and Dniprovsky capital districts, as well as in Boryspil district of Kyiv region.

During the searches, the law enforcement seized cocaine, amphetamine, cannabis, bank cards, mobile phones and laptops. The seized items are attached to the evidence base of the investigation.

Criminal proceedings were initiated upon the fact of illegal production, making, purchasing, storage, transportation, sending or sale of narcotics, psychotropic substances or their analogues.

The investigation is ongoing.

The issue of serving the offenders notices of suspicion is being resolved.

The involvement of state and law enforcement officials in illegal activities is being checked.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision  of  Kyiv Local  Prosecutor's  Office  no. 6.
