SBU CI exposes eight militants: four wanted and two sentenced to jail
In February 2021, SBU CI materials helped to convict eight IAF leaders and members. Four of them are currently wanted, whereas another two terrorists were sentenced in absentia to long jail terms.
In particular, the court's decision on the militant of the terrorist group ”Vostok” involved in the hostilities against ATO forces, including near the Donetsk airport, came into force. The perpetrator was sentenced in absentia to 10-year jail term.
He is currently wanted for participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization.
A recruiter of the “DNR” IAF was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison. The sentence came into force.
The court established that the resident of the village Spartak (Yasynuvata district, Donetsk region) voluntarily joined “Vostok” terrorist group in 2015. Being a recruiter, she recruited people to participate in fightings against Ukrainian Army and civilians.
The convict is put on the wanted list for participation in a terrorist group or organization.
The law enforcement officers documented the illegal activities of former and current heads of the militants' “administration” in temporarily occupied city of Shakhtarsk. Reportedly, the terrorists provided financial support to the militants by extortion illegal “tributes” from local residents. Additionally, they participated in the illegal re-registration of enterprises and industrial facilities for IAF members.
Both of the so-called mayors are suspected of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine. The terrorists are currently wanted.
SBU investigators announced suspicion of participation in a terrorist group to the so-called investigator of the “DNR” Ministry of State Security (MDB). The suspect was involved in questioning of Ukrainian prisoners in jails, including in the so-called “Izoliatsiia” jail. The so-called investigator is put on the wanted list.
In addition, the organizer of an intelligencer network, exposed by SBU CI in Donetsk region, is suspected of high treason and participation in terrorist group.
SBU officers established that the militants' accomplices gathered data on the deployment and relocation of Ukrainian military units and law enforcement agencies. The perpetrators also adjusted hostile artillery shelling. Currently, he is put on the wanted list.
The pre-trial investigation of the so-called Deputy Head of the Border Guard Service of the “DNR” Ministry of Internal Affairs is ongoing. According to the investigation, he forcibly issued fake “DNR” passports to the residents of the occupied area of Donetsk region. He was also involved in illegal registration of Russian citizenship.
The perpetrator is suspected of trespass against territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, participation in a terrorist group, committing a crime by a group of persons, or an organized group and violation of the rules of warfare.
Measures to document the illegal activities of IAF members to bring them to justice are ongoing.
