Poltava and Odesa: SBU exposes separatist Internet agitprops
The SBU cyber specialists blocked anti-Ukrainian activities of two Internet agitprops in Poltava and Odesa cities.
SBU officers documented that the agitators posted destructive information on personal and fake pages. They also spread propaganda in banned Russian social networks.
One of the separatists is a former law enforcement officer who is currently working in a private security company in Poltava. The SBU established that the former officer was an active member in 15 anti-government Internet communities with more than 1.5 million followers. In these groups, the offender posted calls for the violation of public order, forceful change of the state border, justified the Russian aggression in southern and eastern Ukraine, supported the idea of Ukrainian partition and annexation of definite regions by Russia. He used the information from Russian propagandistic and militants’ websites to post anti-Ukrainian content. Allegedly, the offender tried to popularize separatist ideas among servicemen and colleagues.
The SBU officers exposed an another agitator in Odesa. He posted calls for the change of constitutional order and Ukrainian state border on social networks under assumed name. The offender supported pro-Russian militants and agitated for creation of the same terrorist organization as “L/DNR” in the southern regions.
During the searches at offenders’ residences, the SBU officers found computers and mobile phones proving their illegal activities. The officers sent the seized items for examination.
Offenders’ actions are qualified as trespass against territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine. The resident of Odesa received a notice of suspicion.
The investigation is ongoing. In case the guilty is proven, they may be sentenced up to 5 years of imprisonment.
