Luhansk region: SBU unveiled products theft scheme in JFO area
In the Luhansk region, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed the chief specialist of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs who was involved in taking bribe.
Allegedly, the official, as a representative of the department in the medical and social expert commission of the region, demanded money from a former soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who was wounded during the war. For USD 4,500 and UAH 250,000 (USD 9,000), the person promised to assign the soldier a disability group and a one-time monetary compensation for the injury.
The victim had to transfer the money through the authorized person of the official.
Law enforcement officers detained the perpetrator in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine in the premises of the medical board while receiving the second part of the bribe.
The issue of detaining the organizer of the scheme is currently being resolved.
The persons involved in the case were served suspicion notices on improper influence. A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen for the mediator.
The investigation is ongoing to establish other possible facts of illegal activity of the persons involved.
The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office of Luhansk region.
