In Vinnytsia city, the law enforcement officers detained the head of a state enterprise in an attempt to give a bribe to the head of the Regional State Administration.

Allegedly, acting in the interests of a third persons, the official tried to “persuade” the head of the Regional State Administration to change the purpose of the budget funds. In return, he promised to “thank” him in the amount of UAH 4.2 million (USD 148,400).

The law enforcement officers detained the official during the transfer of the first part of the bribe in the amount of UAH 200,000 (USD 7,000) under Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The criminal proceedings were initiated upon giving a bribe to an official. The issues of serving a notice of suspicion to the detainee and choosing a type of detention are being decided.

The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was conducted by the SBU Main Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime jointly with the SBU Office in Vinnytsia region and the NABU, under the supervision of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
