Zaporizzhia region: SBU detains anonymous for systematic threats of mining facilities in Ukraine and abroad (video)

The SBU detained an anonymous in city of Zaporizzhia for systematic reports about pseudo-mining of state institutions and critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine and abroad.

Allegedly, a resident of the regional center created a group in a social network banned in Ukraine. He took “orders” for pseudo-mining of different facilities for money. The offender regularly sent e-mails to the SBU and National Police, threatening to place explosives in secondary schools, universities and nuclear power plants, as well as in railway stations and crowded places.

The employees of the special service are currently checking 200 e-mail letters of alleged mining sent by “anonymous terrorist”.

Consequently, SBU officers detained the perpetrator at his place of residence in city of Zaporizzhia.

During searches of the suspect’s residence, law enforcement officers seized computers and mobile phones proving illegal activities.

The criminal proceedings were initiated for knowingly false report of the preparation of an explosion, arson or other actions that may cause people death or any other grave consequences, or committed repeatedly. The perpetrator was served a suspicion notice of committing the crime.  A round-the-clock house arrest was chosen as type of detention.

The article provides imprisonment for a term of four to eight years.

The operation was conducted jointly with the cyber experts of the Main Department of the National Police in Zaporizzhia region under the supervision of the Zaporizzhia Region Prosecutor's Office.
