The annual SBU hand-to-hand combat championship ended in city of Zhytomyr.

91 athletes from 16 national teams from different regions of Ukraine took part in the three-day competition. The competition was held at the arena of Zhytomyr Dynamo Sports Complex. The athletes competed in 7 weight categories in team and individual classifications.

The team of the SBU Office in Zhytomyr region won gold, athletes from the SBU Office in Vinnytsia region won silver. The team from the SBU Office in Volyn region took the third place.

The SBU First Deputy Head Vasyl Maliuk, the First Head of CSO “A”Lieutenant General Vasyl Krutov and the Head of the SBU Personnel Department Ihor Faradzhev attended the closing ceremony.

“Hand-to-hand combat as a military-applied sport not only strengthens the body, but first of all hardens the spirit, will and fighting brotherhood among the SBU officers. The SBU will hold such competitions in future to improve professional skills, strengthen the brotherhood and raise the morale among the officers,” Vasyl Maliuk said.

Winners and participants of the Championship were awarded cups, medals and memorable prizes.
