The leadership of the ATC Headquarters at the SBU presented a new counterterrorism concept during a training conference held at the National Academy.

"Today, it is extremely important to review approaches to the system of responding to current terrorist threats. The fight against subversive activity is key to counteracting the armed aggression of Russia, "- said Hennadii Kuznetsov, Head of the ATC Headquarters at the SBU, presenting a model of the national CT system. According to him, this will allow to join coordinated efforts against terrorism and sabotage in one task force and preserve the status of the Security Service of Ukraine as the main body in the fight against terrorism.

Important aspects of its realization include:

- implementation of an advanced model of the national CT system with a counter-sabotage function;

- improvement of multiagency cooperation, updating of mechanisms of critical infrastructure protection and counteraction to cyberthreats;

- training of negotiators and advanced training of counter-terrorism personnel;

- raising public awareness and counter-terrorism exercises.

According to the Principal of the Academy Andrii Cherniak, effective counteraction to terrorism means transition from responsive to preventive actions. "The Academy shall become a platform for discussing urgent counter-terrorism issues and relevant interagency cooperation," - he said.

The report on the Review of the National Counter-Terrorism System will include the developed decisions and recommendations.
