SBU opens 328 cases on encroachment upon territorial integrity and creation of terrorist organizations

Since early 2021, the SBU has opened 328 criminal proceedings related to encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, creation of terrorist groups or organizations.

In that respect, SBU investigators have served suspicion notices to 307 individuals.

They include former DNR Deputy Minister of Information V. Priakhin, pro-Russian blogger A. Sharii, two citizens involved in 2019 terrorist attack near the building of the 112 Ukraine TV channel.

In addition, three attempted terrorist attacks were discovered. Two attacks, planned by LNR / DNR subversive groups near the contact line in the Joint Forces Operation area, were suppressed, explosive devices were neutralized. As a result, the SBU prevented military casualties.

SBU and law enforcement officers seized 137 firearms, nearly 72,000 rounds of ammunition and 191.6 kg of explosives in order to prevent terrorist and extremist attacks.

Moreover, the SBU is active in countering international terrorism. In particular, the SBU banned 190 foreigners involved in terrorist and extremist organizations from entering Ukraine. 17 individuals were detained, including a Russian citizen, a member of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, wanted by Interpol, and a militant of the Islamic State terrorist group.

45 foreigners were expelled to their countries of origin, in particular, three citizens - to Sri Lanka, two - to Russia and Azerbaijan. All were supporters or members of international terrorist movements.

During six months, 191 cases have already been charged due to SBU investigations.

The said cases include crimes against national statehood: encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, terrorism.

In particular, a citizen of Ukraine, self-proclaimed prime minister of a Republic of Pidkarpatska Rus quasi-formation, was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He instigated to violate the constitutional order and territorial integrity of Ukraine. In 2014, he turned to Russian organizations for assistance in subversive activity.
