SBU exposes 200 kg of explosives for half a year
The SBU continues to systematically expose caches with weapons arranged by RLF members. In Luhansk region, the SBU officers found over 40 caches and seized a large amount of weapons and ammunition.
Among the seized items were more than 200 kg of explosives, as well as grenades and the man-portable disposable flamethrower of Russian origin.
Allegedly, in 2014, militants of the so-called L/DNR set up numerous caches to fight against the ATO forces.
In Lysychansk, the SBU established whereabouts of a cache arranged by militants, who were involved in detonation of several bridges in Luhansk and Donetsk regions in 2014.
In an abandoned building, the SBU seized the following items:
- more than 8,000 pieces of weaponry and ammunition;
- nine kg of TNT and plastic explosives;
- anti-tank missile system 9K111 Fagot;
- the RPO-A Shmel.
In downtown of Sievierodonetsk, the law enforcement found a cache with grenades in a basement of an apartment building. It posed a real danger to citizens.
In Stanytsia Luhanska district, the SBU searched the suspects’ residence and confiscated:
- more than one kg of explosives;
- electric matches;
- grenades.
In a village near Sievierodonetsk, the SBU uncovered a cache with anti-tank rocket launchers and a large amount of firearm ammunition. At instruction of a so-called LNR leader, the militants set up the cache in 2014.
In Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region:
During the documentation of illegal activity of the so-called "Vostok Batallion", the officers seized:
- two TNT grenades with a total weight of 600 g
- an AK-74 assault rifle with two magazines
- RPG-18 rocket launcher
- a VOG-17 Khattabka grenade
- two RGD-5 grenades with fuses
- five smoke grenades
- almost 3 thousand rounds of ammunition of various calibers.
The investigations are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the offenses and prosecute those involved in the illegal activities.
The operations were carried out by the SBU Main Directorate in Donetsk and Lugansk region jointly with the National Police and the State Emergency Service.
