Almost 1 million people checked during activities under SSU Counterterrorism Centre’s coordination since January 2023
Since the start of this year, the Counterterrorism Centre at the SSU has carried out over 900 counterterrorist and counter-sabotage measures.
In the course of these activities, almost 1 million people have been checked in different regions of Ukraine.
578 criminal proceedings on crimes against Ukraine’s national security have been initiated as a result of these efforts.
In Kirovohrad region:
The SSU detained a railway employee who, on the FSB’s instructions, tried to install a GPS tracker at a local energy facility.
According to the investigation, the occupiers planned to use the electronic ‘beacon’ to prepare a targeted air strike on the oblast’s energy system.
SSU investigators served the individual a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law). The suspect is facing life imprisonment.
In the course of counter-sabotage activities at nuclear power plants in Mykolaiv, Rivne and Khmelnytskyi regions, the SSU exposed 13 employees who were in active contact with russian intelligence services.
The SSU identified another 6 officials of Ukrainian NPPs who passed information to the aggressor on the specifics of nuclear power plants’ operation.
In Lviv region:
At a critical infrastructure enterprise, the SSU exposed a group of ‘activists’ of pro-kremlin NGOs, including the Congress of russian communities of Western Ukraine.
In Vinnytsia region:
The investigation is ongoing against a woman, a law enforcement officer, who was in contact with a russian lieutenant general, head of the FSB’s counterintelligence operations department.
In Volyn region:
At a defence facility, the SSU identified 8 local residents who maintained contacts with officials of the military-industrial complexes of belarus and russia.
In Poltava region:
a cache of munitions was uncovered in a warehouse at a local farm. The items stored at the site included 3 russian-made cluster bombs.
The SSU also seized from the cache:
- 8 anti-tank aircraft bombs;
- 1 air-to-ground projectile;
- almost 7,000 TNT blocks with fuses;
- 318 anti-tank mines.
Comprehensive measures are underway to establish all the circumstances of the crimes and bring perpetrators to justice.
