Since war started, SSU shuts down 5 enemy’s bot farms with over 100,000 fake accounts
The SSU continues to prevent and neutralize information and subversive activities of Russian occupiers. The SSU has dismantled an interregional network of 5 bot farms.
Tasked by Russian special services, Internet agents carried out large-scale information sabotage to destabilize internal situation in Ukraine and assist ruscist invaders.
According to the investigation, the enemy’s bot farms were concentrated in Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Ternopil and Zakarpattia region. Social networks, including those banned in Ukraine, were used for information subversions.
The agent network operated from Kharkiv to Transcarpathia and used over 100,000 fake accounts.
It was established that the criminals were spreading disinformation about the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine and fake news from the frontline.
In this way, they tried to inspire panic among Ukrainian citizens and destabilize social and political situation in various regions.
During the searches of the information and sabotage centers, the law enforcement uncovered:
- over 100 sets of GSM gateways,
- almost 10,000 SIM cards of various mobile operators, which were used to disguise criminal activity,
- laptops and computer equipment with evidence of illegal activities,
- accounting records.
Within criminal proceedings initiated by the SSU investigators under Article 110 (trespass against territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) of the CCU, urgent investigative actions are underway to bring to justice those involved in the crime.
Operations to expose hostile agents were carried out by the SSU Cyber Security units and SSU investigators under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
