SSU exposes over 600 russian agents and spies since war started

Since russia launched its full-scale aggression, the SSU has been investigating over 1,500 criminal proceedings on high treason and espionage. Over 340 of them have been forwarded to court.

During this period, over 600 russian agents and spies, who carried out reconnaissance and sabotage activities against Ukraine, have been exposed.

For example, as a result of a multi-stage special operation, the SSU detained members of a sabotage and reconnaissance group working for the russian military intelligence.

The enemy agents were preparing a physical elimination of the Minister of Defence, the Head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and a well-known Ukrainian activist.

In Kyiv:

The SSU neutralized a group of russian agents, which included officials of the Cabinet of Ministers and of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine.

The agents provided the enemy with intelligence on protection of the state border and personal data of Ukrainian law enforcement officers.

In Mykolaiv:

The SSU exposed the former chief of Mykolaiv District Prosecutor’s Office. After February 24 last year, he voluntarily offered his assistance to the enemy in the war against Ukraine.

While in office, the offender passed to russian special services information on the consequences of enemy strikes, passwords for checkpoints and data on russian PoWs.

In Khmelnytskyi:

The SSU detained a spy - a russian citizen, who arrived in Ukraine in January 2022 to conduct reconnaissance and sabotage activities against our state.

His cover was ‘visiting relatives’, while his real assignment was to set up an extensive agent network to collect intelligence and carry out sabotage in the western regions of Ukraine.

In Volyn region:

The SSU neutralized another spy, a citizen of belarus, who collected information on deployment and movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the oblast.

The SSU Counterintelligence is working on the exposed facts to bring all those involved to criminal responsibility.
