Leonid Derkach, Head of the SSU between 1998 and 2001, passed away on January 14, 2022.

Leonid Derkach rose through the ranks from lieutenant junior to Army General and played a significant role in the establishment of Ukraine’s security agencies. After completing his service, he was elected member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.  

The leadership and the staff of the SSU express our deepest condolences to the family and close ones of Leonid Derkach.

Farewell ceremony will take place on January 16 at 12:00 at the Refectory Church of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
