SBU prevents economic loss of UAH 45.8 billion in 2020
Since the beginning of the year, as a result of measures for counterintelligence protection of critical infrastructure and economic potential of the state, the SBU has prevented losses of the state in the amount of UAH 45.8 billion (USD 1.6 billion).
According to the SBU, 151 unprofitable foreign economic contracts were terminated. Also, the state ownership of financial and material values worth UAH 4.9 billion (USD 175 million) was restored. The operatives prevented 728 emergencies at critical infrastructure facilities.
The SBU officers prevented the disruption of the auction for the sale of a state-owned shares of Dnipro Hotel in Kyiv, the sale of which replenished the budget by more than UAH 1.1 billion (USD 38 million). The illegal scheme of natural gas import from the EU was blocked. This scheme allowed its organizers to evade taxes for UAH 150 million (USD 5,2 million). The misappropriation of lands of the National Academy of Sciences worth more than UAH 300 million (USD 10.5 million) was also prevented.
During the year the SBU operatives exposed the scheme of felling trees in state forestries. It caused damage to the state by more than UAH 5 billion (USD 175 million). They also prevented the embezzlement of UAH 439 million (USD 15 million) allocated for the reconstruction of Boryspil airport.
In total, 1,759 criminal proceedings were initiated, 106 court verdicts were issued in 2020.
