At SSU’s initiative, court completely bans pro-russian Party of Shariy
The Administrative Court of Cassation as part of the Supreme Court of Ukraine rejected the appeal of the pro-russian political entity Party of Shariy and thus entirely banned its activities in our country.
The court made such a decision today following the SSU’s response to threats to national security and on the basis of the President’s decree and the decision of the National Security and Defence Council.
The grounds for banning the party were SSU’s material on the involvement of the leader and principal officials of the Party of Shariy in:
- destabilization of the socio-political situation in Ukraine;
- spread of anti-Ukrainian propaganda on forceful change of the constitutional system, violation of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine;
- undermining state security;
- propaganda of war and violence in the conditions of russia’s military aggression against Ukraine.
In May, pro-russian blogger Anatoly Shariy was detained in Spain. The SSU suspects him of treason, in particular, of committing crimes under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- 111 (treason);
- 161 (violation of equality of citizens depending on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, disability and on other grounds).
Based on the materials of this proceeding, investigators initiated Shariy’s extradition.
According to the investigation, Shariy carried out unlawful activity to the detriment of Ukraine’s national security in the information sphere. There are reasons to believe that Anatoliy Shariy acted on the instructions of russian entities.
