Following SSU investigation, russian actor from ‘Bandit Petersburg’, who called for seizure of Ukraine, sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, russian actor Dmitry Pevtsov, who promotes russia’s war against Ukraine, has been convicted in absentia to imprisonment.

Pevtsov is a member of russia’s state duma and is a ‘public figure’ close to the kremlin who openly supports the ruscist full-scale invasion.

The investigation documented that Pevtsov repeatedly spread anti-Ukrainian narratives during mass events with putin’s participation.

The actor also frequently appeared on russian central TV channels, where he called for seizure of state power and the entire territory of Ukraine.

In the interviews with russian propagandists, Pevtsov told how he personally ‘voted for the accession’ of the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine to russia.

He also denied the ruscists’ war crimes in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, particularly in Mariupol.

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court found Pevtsov guilty in absentia under three Articles of the CCU:

  • 109.3 (actions aimed at forceful change or overthrow of constitutional order or seizure of state power);
  • 110.2 (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability);
  • 436 (propaganda of war).

The sentence is 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Vinnytsia Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
