Following SSU investigation, informant of russian ‘supervisor’ of temporarily occupied Kherson region sentenced to 11 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, an informant of russian senator Igor Kastiukevych, one of moscow’s ‘overseers’ in the temporarily occupied left bank of Kherson region, has been convicted to 11 years behind bars.
During Kherson’s occupation, the woman subscribed to Kastiukevych’s Telegram channel and offered her assistance in the war against Ukraine.
After the liberation of the city, the traitor began to provide to the russian senator’s account the geolocations of possible sites of Ukrainian units in the community.
Then, the data was sent to the russian occupation troops fighting against Ukraine on the southern front.
The SSU detained the informant during stabilization measures in Kherson in September 2023.
After the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on movement or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).
The court took into account the convict’s cooperation with the investigation to document new crimes committed by Kastiukevych.
The senator himself has already received a suspicion notice in absentia for the abduction of 48 orphanage children from the temporarily occupied Kherson to russia. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Kherson Office under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s office.
