Following SSU’s investigation, Odesa resident who raised funds for occupiers sentenced to 11 years in prison
The SSU has collected irrefutable evidence against an enemy accomplice who set up a channel to finance ‘DNR’ militants.
Last December, the SSU Counterintelligence detained the woman during counter-sabotage efforts in Odesa oblast.
According to the investigation, the offender is a local resident. In 2016, her two relatives joined the ‘Sparta’ group of the terrorist organization ‘DNR’ and fought against the ATO/JFO forces in eastern Ukraine.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, both militants joined the regular units of russia’s Southern military district and participated in the operations to capture Mariupol and parts of Kherson region.
Having learnt about a low level of logistical support for her relatives-occupiers, the woman voluntarily organized a fundraiser.
To do this, she posted messages in groups on messenger apps and banned social networks Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki calling for financial assistance for the invaders.
The ‘fundraiser’ attached a photo with details of a russian bank card, which belonged to a roommate of her relative at war.
Based on the collected evidence, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111-2.1 of the CCU (aiding the aggressor state) and sentenced to 11 years and 4 months of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The SSU emphasizes the inevitability of punishment for crimes against Ukraine.
The SSU Odesa Office conducted the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
