Following SSU’s investigation, russian informant convicted to 12 years in prison

Such a decision was made by Petropavlovsk District Court of Dnipropetrovsk region.

The SSU has collected a sufficient evidence base confirming that the person in question passed intelligence to the enemy and helped the occupiers capture Lysychansk.

The SSU Counterintelligence established that this citizen of Ukraine came to the FSB’s attention while serving a sentence at a penitentiary facility in russia.

Just before the full-scale invasion, the enemy sent him to Ukraine to carry out reconnaissance and subversive activity in the area ofthe Joint Forces Operation.

The agent collected and passed to his supervisors information on the location of firing positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Border Guards, and the National Guard in Lysychansk. He also adjusted enemy artillery fire on the city.

For his ‘work’, he received a monetary reward from russian special services.

During the detention of the suspect in April this year, the SSU seized communication devices with voice messages and texting in messenger apps, which confirm the crime.

The court found the agent guilty under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (providing assistance to the aggressor state in conducting military actions against the Armed Forces of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the National Police under the procedural supervision of Luhansk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
