Following SSU’s investigation, collaborator from russian interior ministry who abducted people in Kupiansk sentenced to 13 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by SSU investigators, another collaborator who joined the russia-established ‘ministry of internal affairs’ office during occupation is brought to justice.
In the ranks of the enemy ‘MoI’, the man helped russian occupiers conduct punitive raids against civilians in the then-captured Kupiansk, Kharkiv region.
At the time, people were simply grabbed on the streets, or occupiers broke into homes and abducted them. The ruscists took the victims to a local torture chamber, from where some never returned.
The SSU detained the collaborator in autumn 2022 during stabilization efforts in the liberated areas.
Following the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty of collaboration (Article 111-1.7 of the CCU) and sentenced to 13 years in prison.
According to the investigation, the offender is a 37-year-old local who supported the enemy when the full-scale invasion started.
During Kupiansk’s temporary occupation, he voluntarily agreed to become a ‘patrolman’ in the local ‘branch of russia’s ministry of internal affairs’.
The ‘patrolman’ ‘informed’ the ruscists as to where members of the resistance movement could be and participated in looting local homes and abducting people.
For this, the collaborator received a monthly ‘salary’ from the aggressor state.
The SSU Office in Kharkiv region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
