Following SSU investigation, terrorist leader of ‘Prizrak’ group, who helped russia seize Luhansk region, sentenced to 14 years in prison
Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, a member of the terrorist organization ‘LNR’ (‘luhansk people’s republic’) who fought against the Defence Forces in eastern Ukraine, has been convicted.
He is a 45-year-old native of Odesa who in 2014 helped ruscists to capture the town of Holubivka and the village of Mykhailivka in Luhansk oblast.
Later, the enemy accomplice secretly returned to Odesa, where was hiding from justice for a long time.
In the summer of 2023, the SSU Counterintelligence found and detained him in the city.
During the searches at the suspect’s home, the investigators found photos and other evidence of his membership in the ‘LNR’.
According to the investigation, he took part in mass provocations in Odesa in 2014 and then fled to Rostov-on-Don.
From there, he travelled to Luhansk region and joined the russia-controlled militants.
He was appointed ‘company commander’ of the terrorist group ‘Prizrak’, which was part of the 2nd army corps of russia’s southern military district.
In the ranks of the unit, its leader took part in warfare against the Anti-Terrorist Operation forces near Lysychansk and Alchevsk.
The court found the accused guilty under Article 258-3.1 of the CCU (participation in a terrorist organization) and sentenced him to 14 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The SSU emphasizes the inevitability of punishment for crimes against Ukraine, which have no statute of limitations.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Odesa Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
